Privacy Policy
This page explains exactly what this website stores about you, why it is allowed to, and how to get it deleted. It is written to be read, not to be skipped.
The short version
Names entered on the public wall are displayed publicly on this website permanently. That is the entire point of the wall, and it is why you are asked to tick a consent box before submitting one. If you later change your mind, email privacy@thesingularityshrine.org and your entry will be removed.

Why this is lawful (legal basis)
For anything displayed publicly, the legal basis is consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR. You give it by ticking an unticked box before paying. You are never opted in by default, and consent is not bundled with the payment — refusing it simply means no candle is lit.
Your email address is processed to fulfil the transaction you asked for (Article 6(1)(b)) — namely, sending you the key to your entry.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can, at any time and free of charge:
- Withdraw your consent (Art. 7(3)) — your entry comes off the wall.
- Have your data erased (Art. 17), the “right to be forgotten”.
- Ask what is held about you (Art. 15) and get a copy.
- Have inaccurate data corrected (Art. 16).
- Object to processing, or ask for it to be restricted (Art. 18, 21).
- Complain to your national data protection authority.
To exercise any of these, use the removal request form or email privacy@thesingularityshrine.org. Requests are answered within 30 days, as Article 12(3) requires.
Payments
All payments are processed by Stripe. Card numbers are entered on Stripe’s own checkout page and are never sent to, seen by, or stored on this site. The amount shown before you pay is the total amount charged — no fees or VAT are added on top.
Cookies and tracking
There are no analytics, no advertising pixels, and no third-party trackers on this site. The only browser storage used is a single local preference remembering whether you muted the background audio, which is strictly necessary for the feature you asked for and needs no consent banner under the ePrivacy Directive. Stripe sets its own cookies on its own checkout page, governed by Stripe’s policy.
Retention
Wall entries are kept until you ask for removal. Payment records are retained by Stripe for as long as tax and accounting law requires, independently of this site.
